Report from Network Meeting in Helsinki 8.-11.10.2009
Article posted: 18.10.09
For one unforgettable weekend, almost 50 students and young adults from all over Europe gathered together in Finland to get to know each other and to learn useful skills in areas such as PR, team work and fundraising.
The event’s program included one day of sightseeing and social program in Helsinki. For the weekend, 15 enthusiastic Finns joined the foreign participants in Broby, Tammisaari.
Having people from more than 15 countries at the cottage in Broby guaranteed a truly international atmosphere. Besides the workshops, the program included outdoor games, sauna parties and the European night where everybody had a chance to present food and drinks from their own countries. All this ensured an intensive weekend where networking continued almost around the clock!
Below you can read comments from the participants.
The best thing about this NWM was without a doubt the participants. Although most of them were girls the group seemed balanced. All the participants seemed to integrate to the group pretty well and they were social with each other. The program was well thought out or at least the one I managed to see. Every workshop leader had something to do with the subject in hand through school, work or AEGEE-experience. Also the organizers did exactly what they were appointed to do so the schedule went on smoothly. It was a blast!

The Network Meeting in Broby was great! I felt very welcomed as a new member by the organizers and participants. The atmosphere was warm and friendly throughout the weekend. The program was well organized and I learned a lot about AEGEE, fundraising, PR etc. And, of course, the parties were unforgettable! :D

Whoa! Finland is everything I expected it to be… and more, much more…
bq. The wonderful landscape, autumn sun, clean lakes, cold wind, great, great people… these are only few things I experienced during my NWM09 excursion to Finland and needless to say I had a great time! Organization of the event was perfect, so my only wish was for it to last longer. I came knowing nobody, but I left home with many new friends.
Thank you AEGEE-Helsinki.

The Network Meeting was one of best things I’ve ever attended. I learned much about the cultures of other countries, and of course I learned what AEGEE is all about. I especially liked the AEGEE-TV project, and I will surely attend one of their events. I liked Finland very much. I’m already missing all of the organizers a lot, and I hope to see you soon in some of my future events.
