Report: European Boards' Meeting 2011

After FinEst Wintertale EBM pre-event it was time to continue AEGEE adventures in European Boards’ Meeting (EBM) in Riga. AEGEE-Helsinki was well represented with 10 cheerful members, most of them from our lovely board.

EBM is one of the three statutory meetings taking place every year within AEGEE. It is an event where boards' representatives and active members from all AEGEE antennas gather.

The lodging place was in a gym where around 350 participants slept. It was surprising how well it worked out. You didn't even have to worry about alarm clock in the morning, "Hey soul sister" or "Barbara Streisand" took care of that :)

EBM started on the 23rd of February with an opening ceremony, where we saw Latvian folk dances and heard some speeches. In the evening there was a party in an old factory building and everyone was dressed up in white. Next morning "the serious part" of EBM started. During the next three days we voted on Action agenda 2011 and Activity report of the Comité Directeur, participated in workshops and plenaries, got to know many amazing people, had a lot of fun in different parties, got a taste of different cultures in European Night and enjoyed the AEGEE-spirit.
