New office of AEGEE-Helsinki in 2009

Article posted: 21.10.08

AEGEE-Helsinki has dwelt in the comfort of Domus Academica on Leppäsuonkatu since the year 2000. This year the The Executive Board of the Student Union of University of Helsinki (HYY) made a decision about major redistribution of premises among HYY’s student organization. As a result, the premises at Leppäsuonkatu 9 B will no longer be available for student organizations. Also AEGEE-Helsinki is going to move into a new location.

Starting from January 2009 AEGEE-Helsinki will have its office in the new students’ house in 4th floor of Mannerheimintie 5 B. We will share the room with two other organizations. Our new roommates are Tsemppi and HYRMY.

Our space will consist of rooms 33 and 34, which will be combined. According to our information they will be connected through space, which will be taken from the kitchen (room 30).

Moving to the new students’ house is in a way a move back in time. AEGEE-Helsinki used to reside there before moving to its current home.

Student organizations will also loose the possibility of using club room “Benita” for events and accommodation. This challenges us to find an alternative lodging place for the summer university. If you have any alternatives in mind, please let us know!

More information about the decision of HYY’s Executive Board can be read at http://www.hyy.helsinki.fi/suomi/3/news/462/ (in Finnish)
