FOCUS Photography Exhibition at Kaisaniemi metro station

FOCUS – Fotos Creating Understanding was a project about means of visual communication and the effect of culture in interpreting pictures. The event took place in Helsinki in September 2009 with participants from Poland, Italy, Turkey and Finland.
The results of the project are also presented in a visual way: We have installed a photo exhibition about the event at Kaisaniemi metro station. The exhibition will be there until 31 January 2010.
During the event we focused on the language of images and on questions such as is our visual understanding related to our verbal understanding, what is the role of culture in interpreting images, what kind of images does media show on particular themes and how media affects our notions of particular themes.
Opening Ceremony
A small opening ceremony was held on Thursday, 7 January 2010, followed by the first social meeting of the year in Pub Friday.
