Helsinki-Bamberg Exchange May 25.5-30.5.2010

Article posted: 6.06.10 - Exchanges

In November of 2009 AEGEE-Helsinki visited the idyllic city of Bamberg in Germany. During six exciting days we wined, dined and made beautiful new friends. Now almost half a year later our German friends from Bamberg came to Helsinki! So we set up a mission, which was to slowly break every bit of their mid-European cultural habits. The aim was to inject some serious Finnish SISU right up their butts! Well folks, guess what happened?

How to apply for a Summer University 2010

Article posted: 4.03.10 - Summer Universities

Now you can apply for a Summer University 2010!

In order to apply you need to be an official member of AEGEE-Helsinki. You must apply before the deadline 30.4.2010. Here’s a small step by step guide on how to join AEGEE-Helsinki, pay the fee and apply for a Summer University course.

Now you’ve checked out some nice options and you wanna apply for them. Here’s how it goes:

  1. Join your local AEGEE antenna (AEGEE-Helsinki) by filling the member form
  2. Pay the fee (The basic yearly member fee is 20€ and also 2.5€ if you wanna apply for a Summer University)
  3. Create a profile in the AEGEE intranet
  4. The board of AEGEE-Helsinki will authorize your membership after you’ve paid the fee
  5. When you’ve been authorized and you have a working intranet account you can submit your Summer University application here

Yes that’s it. Very simple! :)

After the preselection algorithm has assigned each applicant a SU, the Incoming Control Panels of the locals will be enabled. The organizers of the SUs will receive the motivation letters from the applicants that were preselected for their SU and they will make the final selections!

This will take around a week after the preselection has finished. You will be informed in any case: if you are selected, if you are not selected or if you are in the waiting list.

AEGEE-Helsinki will provide local events in late March to tell you about Summer Universities and to inform you further how to apply. You should check out the Summer University homepage which has all the information you’ll need. You can also read our Summer University FAQ, which gives some hints for writing the motivation letter.

Also don’t forget AEGEE-helsinki will be arranging a Summer University together with AEGEE-Tartu and AEGEE-Tallinn during 3.7-18.7. The search for organizers has began and we’ll be having the first organizers meeting at the AEGEE-helsinki office next Friday 5.3 at 5.30 pm. You’re all welcomed to participate!
